Uplift: Jenn Wood
I met Jenn about eight years ago. We were both starting our Transformative Educational Leadership (TEL) journey with a retreat at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck New York. I was deeply affected by her work with refugee populations in Europe and her many roles in the world of education. Since then, Jenn has become a true and loyal friend, that special person who sends a postcard for no particular reason, remembers everything I said, listens to the details, and expresses gratitude ALL the time. Jenn has been a source of comfort, inspiration and wisdom for me as I have envisioned and created RiseWell. She continues to be an important support and advisor and I value her sisterhood tremendously.
Jenn is the Education Director at Sage Institute for Creativity and Consciousness. Alongside Sage, she has taken part in meditation and mindfulness training through the Garrison Institute, Humanize, Mindfulness in Schools Project, Omega Institute, Oxford Mindfulness Centre, and Plum Village. She holds an M.Ed. In International Education and a PREK-12 ESOL teaching certificate.
Jenn received medical treatment for burnout eleven years ago and committed herself to meditation and mindfulness practices. She now guides others, particularly those in helping professions, to mitigate burnout. She works with people new to practice and people who want to invigorate an established practice. Both are about curiosity, reflection, intention, and change. She’s offering thirty-minute wellbeing conversations that follow this simple structure:
The first fifteen minutes is for you to reflect and share, and for Jenn to ask clarifying questions.
In the second half, you’ll talk about practices and resources to support you.

Gratitude:
This month I would like to express my deepest gratitude for my Courage & Renewal sisters, Betty Bernstein, Michelle Thall and Christina Sasaki. For the past year and a half, we have worked together diligently to create a special series of learning sessions that we call Making Meaning of Loss and Transition. Every week, and sometimes twice a week, we have gathered on Zoom, Betty in Washington State, Michelle in Chicago, Christina in Switzerland and me in Arizona, to plan, create, wrestle with and cry together as we crafted this series. I truly believe that relationships build when people work together with a shared purpose, values, and passion. These three women have been my soul mates, and I am honored to continue my journey with them as we embark on an 18-month facilitator preparation program together in April. Thank you, my dear friends.
