What RiseWell Means
To Rise is to expand, to lighten, to be open to what is truly possible. Dough rises when it is exposed and activated by living forces… heat, air and time. It requires these conditions and helpers in order to become its full, true self…bread. And like bread, we too require certain conditions and supports in order to Rise.
The Well is both deep and historic. It is the deep Well of being. It is the place where women gathered for water to sustain their families, to talk and share their pains and triumphs and connect deeply with one another. The feminine aspect has been overlooked and denigrated. We honor the feminine essence in all of us as essential for our ability to transform. And, of course, being Well is about all of us doing what we can to achieve a state of vibrancy and well-being for ourselves, each other and our planet.
RiseWell, holds all of this in a safe and loving container in our coaching, circles and retreats.

How We Do It
At RiseWell, we use a variety of concepts, approaches, and practices to guide, facilitate and coach. In all our offerings, our intention is to allow each participant the time, space, support, and compassion for personal growth and transformation. You will find elements of most of these approaches in all of our offerings.
-
We embrace the power of both inner personal work and outer work in community. Both require listening and silence, witnessing and sharing, reflecting, integrating, and uplifting. All our offerings honor the need for both solitude and community.
-
The center of our approach at RiseWell is to cultivate presence. Life exists only in the here and now. Although the past can inform what the present moment brings, we can easily be held hostage by the baggage we carry from past experiences. We can be further stymied by the fear of the future and getting stuck in cycles of regret, fear and patterns that no longer serve us. Cultivating presence is the antidote to this. In our coaching cycles and our circles we learn and engage in mindfulness practices that gently nudge us into the present moment. We address what we call the “many bodies,” of who we are - physical, emotional, mind, energy and soul by learning and engaging with embodiment practices that bring our full selves into presence. Taking the time to integrate these experiences is a way for our full selves to acclimate to the subtle, yet profound, changes these practices can bring.
-
We embrace Michael Meade’s concept of the “Sudden Village”, a dynamic that emerges each time we gather together, never the same, always fully present and open-hearted. When we meet in Circles, we come as we are and where we are.
-
Writing as a way to reflect and let your inner voice speak can be a powerful tool for developing self-awareness. We often journal after doing practices, and share our writings with each other as a way to deepen community. We sometimes use prompts and poems to guide us. We think less and write more, allowing our intuition to “bubble up” and become visible on the page. We share and witness each other’s writing without judgement.
-
SoulCollage® is both a process for self-exploration and a group process for connecting with others. We create and share collages to better understand ourselves and to allow others to see us more fully. You do not need to be an artist to do SoulCollage®. All you need is a card, glue, scissors and images in order to explore your gifts, your shadows and your soul.
-
In many of our retreats we engage in the process of building Altars. This is an on-going process of creating a visible and tangible representation of “who you are now.” This process provides opportunities for being in nature, meditation, object gathering, memory walks, ancestral connections and much more.

-Tiffani, FWS U.S. Department team leader
"Lea Abrams is an extraordinary and embodied facilitator of SoulCollage®. Her wisdom and compassion shine through in every moment of her guidance, creating a safe and nurturing space for deep exploration and connection. She recently led my team and me through a transformative process that not only enhanced our team building but also allowed us to connect on a soul level, fostering a sense of unity and understanding that we will carry forward. Lea's ability to create a space where each person feels seen, heard, and valued is truly a gift, and I am so grateful for the profound insights and learning I gained through her facilitation."
- Meena Srinivasan, Executive Director, Transformative Educational Leadership (TEL)
"To know Lea is to love her! It has been a true delight to learn about Meditation and Mindfulness through her. She is one of the GOOD PEOPLE in this world who make you feel good just to be around them. She is a loving, inspirational presence, and I feel very blessed to have spent time with her."
- Betsy, Heriatage Pointe ElderSoul
“Lea is a highly skilled and compassionate coach who listens deeply. She knows how to co-create and model a safe/trusting/deeply supportive space. Sometimes we laughed together and I loved that. In the midst of crisis, we could connect for a moment and laugh. It helped to know that was possible — intense life upheaval and laughter. I deeply value her somatic approach and practices/encouragement to connect with the body, to drop in and feel.”

I’ve worked with adults and youth in diverse educational settings for 30+ years as a teacher, workshop facilitator, mentor, researcher, and public historian. My meditation practice (consistent for 11+ years now) led to practicing and teaching secular mindfulness for caregivers.
I’m committed to helping people find more ease in daily life through mindfulness and meditation. I guide beginners and more experienced practitioners who seek change. I like to bring in movement, creativity, and a little coaching for logistics. Whatever you bring, we can probably work with to support you. Mindfulness is a way towards more love, less fear.
I’m drawn to RiseWell because of Lea’s unique practices, skillsets, and deep capacities to guide somatic practice. When I practice with her, within moments, I usually find my footing in the present moment. There’s a felt sense of safety and connection in her spaces online and in person. She often says: Presence is always available to us.
To which I would add: Presence makes all the difference.
Fun facts: I lived in Germany for 15+ years and love all things international. I’m a reader, an auntie, and an explorer of poetry. Creative writing was my first practice, and that’s been consistent for ~23 years.
I offer Practice Pauses and 30-minute calls focused on wellbeing.

I have been working with and in service of RiseWell before it was RiseWell! I scheme in the background, absorbing the vision and creating systems to help bring it into the world. As an intermediary between creative goals and their logistic containers, I have the unique experience of peering into the soul of RiseWell. Its future is dazzling and bottomless. We love to hear your feedback, and we love to collaborate. Please reach out with anything from a technical issue, to an idea you have for RiseWell, all people and ideas are welcome!
